I’m happy to say that I’ve joined an exciting new project! ‘Books and Borrowing, 1750-1830: An Analysis of Scottish Borrowers’ Registers’ is a three-year AHRC-funded project which explores
How the untapped potential of Scottish borrowers’ registers can be employed to enrich our knowledge of the histories of books and reading.
The project started at the beginning of this month and will continue until May 2023. I’m part of a team that will transcribe historic borrowing registers from fourteen libraries and analyse them to find out what people were reading in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
For me, it follows on from work I did in 2018-19 on transcribing the eighteenth-century borrowing registers of professors and students at the University of Glasgow.
You can read the first project news post here and follow the project on Twitter.
